If VP Harris chooses Shapiro

Hi Reader,

It’s widely believed that Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), a Sabbath observant Jew, is going to be selected for Harris’s VP candidate.

I have a worry about that election though.

The Dems have a huge anti-Semitism problem on the extreme left. Jews are being held to standards nobody else is.

In all fairness, plenty of anti-Semitism exists on the extreme right, but it isn’t as public as that on the extreme left.

With Harris’s time as a Senator she was proudly crowned the most liberal senator in the Senate. She notably failed to discharge her duty as President of the Senate while Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered a speech to a joint session of Congress.

In a move clearly pandering to the extreme left, in Harris’s meeting with Netanyahu she went out of her way to mention her sympathies for Palestinian suffering (nothing wrong with that).

But, when you combine that with her previous support for the "defund the police" movement and her push to abolish private health insurance a-la Bernie Sanders, the picture doesn't look good for her as not being an extreme leftist.

I mean for years, she's been touting her attorney general background. But her years as a legislator show anything but law and order.

So my concern with picking Shapiro is that she knows she needs centrists to elect her president. In her picking Shapiro, she may give off the impression, she'd be a centrist candidate. I fear she is not a centrist, and the Shapiro selection would be a facade.

We don't know where Harris stands on almost any substantive issue. As a legislator and as a VP, almost nothing was delivered. It is worth noting VPs generally don't have significant achievements in that role. But I think she had plenty of chances to get those goals anyways.

Shapiro is Harris's best shot to deliver Pennsylvania and potentially the presidency. But what lies behind the potential ticket worries me.

Dear Reader, As we approach the one-year mark since the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust, I find myself reflecting on the horror, the trauma, and the twisted celebration of violence that has since unfolded. My family was in Israel that day, and the fear that gripped me is something I’ll never forget. It’s a fear that echoes the centuries of persecution my people have faced, even as we’ve sought refuge in Western democracies. This video is in podcast form too. A...

In my newsletter last night I reported that Donald Trump was shot at and his most recent assassination attempt. That was incorrect, my, my apologies. A big thank you to Pete for pointing that out. Apparently in the haste of the aftermath and me trying to get this letter and me trying to get this letter out, I missed that nuance. Donald Trump was not shot at this week, but there was an apparent assassination attempt on him. On September 15, 2024, an individual armed with a rifle was spotted...

To: Reader Sorry guys, I forgot to change the subject line this week. Excuse the double send! Harris’s Scripted Victory, Terrorist Retribution, and a Near Miss for Trump Hi Reader, This week, we witnessed political theater, justice served in blood, and a near-fatal assassination attempt that barely raised eyebrows. Here’s my raw take on this week’s top headlines—unfiltered and as real as it gets: The Presidential Debate: Did Harris Really Win? Everyone’s talking about Kamala Harris “winning”...
